The Select app

The Post’s Select app is a bold envisioning of each days top news stories. Design work for this app also appears in a Google Chrome extension, a Smart TV app and on social media.

My role: I served as design editor for this product in 2018 and continue to oversee it on a director level today. In 2018, I created a style guide and implemented an award-winning editorial redesign.

The flagship app

For several years, The Post had two news apps — dubbed “Select” and “Classic.” In 2020, we set out to create one flagship app that would both inform and delight our readers. We’re still in the process of iterating to make the app a more habit forming experience for subscribers.

My role: I created high-fidelity wireframes that outlined a fresh approach to packaging and curation — one that we’re on the cusp of implementing. Product designers use my concepts as a jumping off point, and I serve as a stakeholder, heavily editing until updates are refined for launch.
